Restraint
A measure or condition
A measure or condition
Of control and limitation
A deprivation of personal liberty
And of freedom more restriction
And abject discrimination
Restrained locked up
And never handed
The opening key
In subtlety though
Something valuable to know
That restraint
Have many hidden rewards
In patience, seeds we sow
That flourishes and will grow
As we move towards
Outcomes are more steady and slow
The mind seeks immediate action
A bit hard when still in traction
From skiing down a slope
At breakneck speed
The lack of quick reaction
In a second, that’s a fraction
Is the difference between safety
And disaster, it’s agreed
The body’s getting old
But never been told
To show restraint
And take one thing at a time
We’re still bulletproof and bold
And it can never be sold
That patience is a virtue
Not a partner in crime
So, restraint can be good
And believe me, it should
As limitations curb the desire
Best to look before you leap
Or you’ll end up asleep
And odds on it’ll be a toss-up
Whether you live or expire
