Screaming in My Heart
A sonnet
Just a little kid, yearning for love
Yearning for your fingers to soothe my brow
Yearning to be kissed, yearning to be touched
Yearning to be hugged, bodies crushed
Yearning for your smile to warm my soul
Yearning for my heart to become whole
Yearning to find the missing half of my mind
Yearning to be immersed in your presence blind
Yearning to feel your eyes envelop me
See me for who I am and can be
Yearning to run into you one day
And recognize you without delay
Until then I’ll be screaming in my heart
Don’t take too long or I might just fall apart.

The title was inspired by this story about Japanese theme parks advising roller coasters customers to “scream inside their hearts”.
