This Time Must End

The sun warms up my skin
The grass prickles my back
The bugs crawl up my leg
I ask: Will this time last?
The far squeals reach my ears
The chirps enter my heart
The engine hums above me
I ask: Must these days end?
The branches swoosh and sway
The water trickles near me
The leaf lands on my face
I pray: Time, do not leave me.
