To The One He Loves Next

To the one he touches next
know that those fingers have journeyed before
have performed sacred rituals on the body of another lover
have tantalized other landscapes with fervor
have explored caverns full of yearnings
To the one he looks at next
know that those eyes have dared another to forget time
those eyes have witnessed unspoken taboos of lust
they have sheltered the heart of another in their gaze
have maliciously seduced another without limit
To the one he speaks of next
know that those words, those piercing, burning words
have once broken even the most resolute of heart
have cast spells that seemed time could not unravel
those words have made fortresses in a heart, no will could break
To the one he loves next
know that though his love has now found a warm bed to lie on
it will once again stir restless for another
as he yearns to discover the fullness of himself
he will make his journey forth on his life path
To the one he loves next
when the time comes when he makes to wander
let go with dignity, as I have done
hold fast to your worth and honor
do not throw yourself out like a mad beast
To the one he loves next
comfort yourself in the bittersweet knowledge of life
know that as his love has now found respite in another
so, too, will the winds of time bring solace to your heart
rest assured, that you too
will find another who loves you next
