For five years I have been extremely loyal to a social organization that has existed for over forty years and is now in the throes of death . . . a natural death by old age and attrition…. and very little replenishment.
I have felt the need to support this organization out of loyalty and because of my widowed need for a social life. (That’s really why we’re all there — because we’re all single.)
However, it has been brought to my attention in a variety of ways recently that being a part of this organization is not really bringing me happiness. The members greet wonderfully — and there the communication ends. We have absolutely nothing in common, so what is there to communicate? I cannot blame them — that is just the reality.
If we have to try to become someone we are not in order to ‘fit in’, then we are obviously in the wrong place. . . It actually took me five years to realize that?! Wow… hard to believe! I must be a really slow learner!
Ultimately, when we find our ‘tribe’ (as some fellow-writers have coined it), we recognize it instantly and effortlessly. We don’t have to try to fit in — we just automatically do! We have an instant feeling of being with family… our family. . . and finally ‘belonging’.
. . . And that brings us true happiness!
P.S. Of course you realize I am speaking of only one form of happiness… and only one way of achieving it. There are obviously multitudinous types and ways of achieving happiness. This is just one simplistic story and way to my true happiness.
May you enjoy your own unique journey to the discovery of your true happiness in the beginning of this new year of 2020.
Author’s Note: This line of thinking was used in preparation and as a basis for a response to a prompt. The resultant response is as follows:
I shall honor my true inner self in all aspects of this life’s journey as I ‘adventure life’ fully on the path of evolution in the year 2020.
Thank you, Francine Fallara and Blue Insights for the invitation of the prompt.
