Why Are You Feeling Depressed After Your Workout?

You could have heard that so many people feel more anxious and depressed after a workout, but you have thought about how it can be possible as people work out to become more mentally strong. That is not the case every time, as not everyone finds that workouts leave them feeling happier.

They don't despise working out, but they do feel that way every time. This type of feeling is mostly felt after a heavy or intense workout.

I personally feel like sh*t most days after my workout. You could be someone who also feels the same and does not know why you feel like that. So that's why in this blog I will explain to you the reasons behind these feelings.

Before I start I will like to say if you clicked this blog then make sure to read till the end and follow me as I usually explain broad topics in the easiest way possible.

Why do you feel like that

As I told you before, I also feel like that most often, so for that, the reasons will be explained totally based on my personal experience. No scientific reasons will be discussed, as I want you to feel connected with my feelings.

How do I feel?

So it’s like after every intense workout I feel more depressed, and even though I try to involve myself in other activities to stay away from those feelings, my subconscious mind still feels worried for no reason. Every time I feel like something bad is going to happen, even though everything is going well,

What is the reason then?

Through monitoring these feelings, I found out that this type of thought mostly arises on the days when my coffee or pre-workout drink intakes are higher than usual. There were only a few days when I felt depressed without any caffeine abuse.

What If You felt depressed without any caffeine abuse?

I am sure not everyone feels like me, and without any caffeine abuse, they still felt like that, and for them, I have a few questions to ask them.

1. Are You Overtraining?

So many people, without knowing it, train excessively. And do you know one of the common effects of overtraining is depression? There is always a fine line for you to cross where you should stop pushing so hard. I know it may go against modern gym-rat philosophy, but it is what it is.

2. Do you have a past history of depression?

If you are not experiencing any positive emotional benefits from exercise and are continuously seeing negative mood swings after workouts, then that could be a reason behind an underlying depressive disorder.

3. Are you fueling your body enough?

When you exercise, you must provide your body with adequate nutrition so that it can repair itself. While working out, our body relies on blood glucose levels, and as we work hard, our glucose level goes down, which leads to less energy. This is why most bodybuilders feel depressed thoughts more often while on a cut.

Ask yourself these few questions and see if you can relate to any; if your answer is yes, then you should consider changing some of these habits. You will definitely see some positive changes.

In the end, I will say that it’s okay to feel like that. Please do not judge yourself based on your feelings. So many people like you on this earth feel the same, and it is pretty common if you do research.

That concludes today's blog; I hope you found it useful.

Make sure to clap and share it with those who are also depressed from workouts and cannot find any reason.
