I had the pleasure of seeing his 1st retrospective In Pittsburgh at the Mattress Factory while going to Princeton. I also had the pleasure of introducing myself and speaking to him at length as the keynote speaker at the Philly Museum of Art for a Barnett Newman symposium.

Brilliant soft spoken man, which created the movement in LA called light and space in the mid 60’s beginning with sensory deprivation studies with fellow artist Robert Irwin.

Simply put the most brilliant artist alive and certainly one of the greats of all time.

Ironically he is a quaker whom works with solely with light.

The best quote I recall about him was “He is the first artist to make light visual”

Brilliant. Enjoy!
