We are seeking a Head of Operations to join our fast-paced, mission-driven team.

BlueLena drives rapid audience growth and monetization by working with publishers and editors to align their business models, content strategies and audiences’ needs. Position Description:

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Operations will lead a team responsible for the efficient onboarding, training and implementation of new publishers onto the BlueLena technology platform, while overseeing the successful delivery and support of our end-to-end audience management technology stack.

You will build, develop and direct the team responsible ensuring all technology platforms are successfully deployed and supported to drive continuous improvement and performance optimization on behalf of our clients.

As a member of the executive leadership team, the Head of Operations will be involved with shaping our long-term growth strategy, including the productization of our solutions and services, defining business processes, establishing key performance indicators, recommending best-in-class technology and partners, and assisting with and/or leading strategic initiatives as directed by the board and CEO.

Salary: $80,000-90,000 plus bonus (10% of base salary)

Responsibilities:

  • Management and leadership of the BlueLena Agency Services team.
  • Attract and develop the best talent as part of our dynamic, growing organization.
  • Become a trusted advisor and resource to senior leaders (publishers, editors, marketers) in client organizations.
  • Become an expert on our product offerings, including tools for email acquisition, content access controls, data integration, and marketing automation processes, as well as our growing library of creative assets and partner services.
  • Understand and articulate the technical capabilities of the BlueLena marketing platform and our solution offerings so you can advise and empower clients on all the tools and resources available through our managed services.
  • Facilitate continous feedback loop with internal and external stakeholders to achieve peak operational efficiency and program effectiveness.

Position Requirements:

Demonstrated track record of leadership, collaboration and team-building. 3+ years of experience within an agency or B2B SAAS organization, with additional consideration for experience in publishing and the newsmedia. Bachelor’s degree in any STEM or Business discipline, along with proficiency or mastery in marketing automation technology is preferred. Knowledge of email marketing, social media and current web publishing standards. Organizational and strong interpersonal communication skills required, as is the ability to multi-task and keep on top of multiple priorities and clients simultaneously.

The ideal candidate is a creative, empathetic leader and problem-solver with a good sense of a reader’s news reading experience, and the challenging environment of independent news publishing. Our clients’ jobs are difficult, and our primary goal is making financial sustainability a reality without overly burdening them. The ideal candidate will think beyond the solutions available today, identifying emerging needs within the client base and proposing solutions that we can build and scale across our network.

Experience in a news organization, working in audience development, engagement, community management, analytics or reader revenue will be highly regarded.
