Oakland Genesis Soccer Club

Oakland Genesis Soccer Club is a Bay Area based nonprofit that provides socially and economically disadvantaged youth with free academic support and athletic programs. Their three main services involve free access to club soccer programs, free academic support and college advising to players, and free transportation to and from team practices and games. Learn more about Oakland Genesis Soccer Club.

Our project: We are building an online portal allowing Oakland Genesis staff to track participants’ personal progress and communicate with all stakeholders (participants, parents, volunteers, donors) on student progress and activities.

National Black Justice Coalition

National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is a civil rights organization based in Washington, D.C. dedicated to empowering Black LGBTQ/SGL plus people and people living with HIV/AIDS by making it their mission to end racism, homophobia, and LGBTQ/SGL bias and stigma through federal public policy advocacy. They have a number of different initiatives they are advocating ranging from employment non-discrimination to criminal justice. Learn more about NBJC.

Our project: We’re building a web platform for NBJC that will enable people to easily find and engage with various organizations that focus on helping Black LGBTQ/SGL and other marginalized communities.

We Care Solar

We Care Solar is a nonprofit saving lives in childbirth through the design, delivery, and installation of rugged, compact solar suitcases. Hundreds of thousands of health facilities lack reliable electricity, and the consequences are often tragic. The organization works closely with partners such as the Ministries of Health, UN agencies, and international non-government organizations to promote clean energy for safe motherhood. Learn more about We Care Solar.

Our project: We’re building a low-bandwidth friendly mobile app for health workers to access educational resources, important communications, and personalized support so they can make the most impact with each solar suitcase.

Mee Panyar

Mee Panyar supports rural communities in Myanmar in the operation and maintenance of decentralized solar mini-grids that provide reliable, sustainable energy. This work aims to not only help rural electricians transition from diesel to solar (reducing carbon emissions by 60% and electricity prices by 50%) but to ensure long-term maintenance and proper operation of these new systems through the provision of formal education and support to rural electricians. Learn more about Mee Panyar.

Our project: We’re building an instructional mobile app with offline functionality for local technicians/engineers in rural areas to help them operate and maintain decentralized solar mini-grids that provide reliable, sustainable energy.

Kamehameha Schools

Kamehameha Schools (KS) is more than just a network of schools, but an active player in shaping the socio-economic landscape in the Hawaiian islands. KS leverages it’s massive land-ownership in Hawai’i to fund early education programs, support agricultural endeavors, operate retail spaces, and more. KS is a complex conglomerate — a mix of global diversified financial assets and an educational network for native Hawaiians. Learn more about Kamehameha Schools.

Our project: We’re building a web dashboard for farmers and land asset managers to crowd-source and report relevant metrics on the health and productivity of Kamehameha Schools’ agricultural lands.
