In Roma, Italy, 2011

From Narita Airport to Rome Fiumicino Airport by Alitalia. I was surprised at the friendliness of the CA at Alitalia Airport. From Rome Termini station, I took the train to Florence Campo di Marte station.

成田空港からアリタリア航空でローマ・フィウミチーノ空港。アリタリア空港のCAさん、空いてる座席の肘を置くとこに腰掛けて延々楽しそうにおしゃべりしてた。なんだかキュートで自由だ。

You can get on the train smoothly.

空港からはぬるっと電車に乗れる。このまま乗って良いのか、改札をスルーしちゃったのか。

あいにくの雨だけど散策開始。

広場の作り方というか使い方も面白いし、対で建物をレイアウトするのも面白いなあ。

I took a local bus. There were many citizens.

観光客がいっぱいで嫌になってローカルバスに乗った。バスにも地元の人がたくさん乗ってるけどこっちは気にならない。

What a beautiful landscape! I was taking a walk and bumped into this view. I wonder if it has been like this for a long time. What a beautiful everyday life.

散歩してたらこんな景色にぶつかる。ずっと昔からこの景色のままなんだろうなあ、なんと美しい日常か。

This is a design. Just righ. The appearance and the detail of the work is brilliant, oh my.

They are all over the city. I often saw people buying. They were also chatting while buying.

町のあちこちにあるキオスクっぽいスタンド。買ってる人もよく見かけた。買いながらおしゃべりもしてた。

I came to the station anxious to buy a ticket. Is it a national railroad?

切符買えるか不安で駅に来た。イタリアカラーの券売機は国営鉄道だからかなあ。

It just has station’s name on it. But it’s cool. Is it because of the Roman brand?

駅名が書いてるだけなのに、かっこよく見える。

A cathedral that blends in with the town. The whole town is in harmony. A town where buildings remain as they were when they were made of stone and brick. There is harmony in the landscape. Countries with few earthquakes are good.

町にとけこむ大聖堂。町全体で調和がとれてる。

石やレンガで建物を作っていた時代から、そのまま今でも残ってることが調和を生むのかなあ。地震…。

Rome in the rain. I bought an umbrella. I lost it that day.

雨のローマでおしゃれな傘を買った。その日のうちにどこかに置いてきてしまった。

I ate Italian food with atmosphere. I had a delicious pasta and a glass of wine at a restaurant with a great atmosphere. I didn’t know what I was going to get when I looked at the menu. There were many things that were different from what I expected lol.

雰囲気のあるお店で美味しいパスタとワインを飲んだ。メニューを見ても何が出てくるかわからない。思ってたんとちょっと違うものばかりくる。

We walked to the Colosseum. It is right in front of me.

コロッセオ方面を目指して歩いてきたのに、いざ目の前にすると圧巻。グラデュエーターを思い出しながら、さらに思いを馳せる。

Is the prototype of the modern stadium here?

スタジアムの原型ってものがあるのかわからないが、コロッセオだったりして。たくさんの巨大なアーチ型のゲートで、どこからでも中にアクセスできる作り。

Italian seems to use the same alphabets. However, the endings are different, the spelling is different, and I couldn’t tell if this was a word or a place name. The long spellings of squares and churches are difficult. I frequently got lost. I feel like I can read, but I can’t. I feel like I can read, but I can’t. It bugs my brain.

イタリア語も同じアルファベット？を使ってるようだけど、語尾が違ったり、つづりが違ったり、単語なのか地名なのかわからなかったり、広場や教会の長い単語が実はちょっとずつ違ったりで迷子になりまくった。

読めそうで読めない、読めてる気がするが読めてないが、脳をバグらせる。

見たことあるなあと後で調べたら、映画のロケ地だった。

Without deciding where to go, I got on the bus. I saw a marche in the square. I got off the bus.

時間があったので、行き先決めずにローカルバスに。広場のマルシェを見かけバスを降りる。

Italian is spoken. It is pleasant to listen to. Everyone is friendly.

イタリア語は語尾が伸びるのがかわいい。誰もがフレンドリーに見えるがコミュ障もきっといるだろう。

I can feel the history not only the buildings but also the size of the trees in the town. It is good to live surrounded by things that have lives longer than human lives. I think it seems very good for mental health. It helps me not to be arrogant.

町だけでなく木の大きさにも歴史を感じることがしばしばある。人の命よりも長いものに囲まれる暮らしは、メンタルにとてもいいように思う。傲慢にならなくてすむ…多分。
