Extinct Magic Madness 2017 Bracket Revealed
The joint Twitter production by me and Walt’s Frozen Head is now coming to my website.
The wait is finally over. You thought the season of madness was over didn’t you? No its not and it’s time for Extinct Magic Madness. This year will be a little different. As eight teams are based off of extinct attractions and the other eight are based off of never built attractions. This move was made in order to add more excitement to the tournament. With this new move we will have new teams. I’m going to introduce you to all the new teams.
Nemo’s Explorers are based off of the famous 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage at Walt Disney World. The team was a fan-favorite from last year.
Captain EO’s Crew
Captain EO’s Crew is another second year Extinct Magic Madness team. Captain EO was a science fiction film starring Michael Jackson at Epcot. Since its closing in 2015, the attraction has gained a cult following. It will be interesting to see how this team does in Extinct Magic Madness.
California Hang Gliders
Yes there is still an attraction called Soarin’. Yet the original version no longer exists. So Extinct Magic Madness pays tribute to the original Soarin’ Over California. The California Hang Gliders will be in the Extinct Conference.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios lost not one but two icons in this past year. They lost the Earful Tower and the Sorcerer’s Hat. That’s why we have the team Hollywood Icons.
Lights! Motors! Action! Pyros
The second Extinct Magic Madness team hailing from Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The team is obviously based off of the stunt show of the same name.
Streets of America Fightin’ Lights
Yes another Extinct Magic Madness team from Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Streets of America was mostly a walkway for fans at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. For some of us the area is home to some of the best holiday memories. Streets of America use to host the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. This was an attraction that only came around during the holiday season. Many fans were sadden that Streets of America was one of the areas that got the go ahead to be destroyed. They are clearing the way for Star Wars Land. So now the Streets of America Fightin’ Lights live on in Extinct Magic Madness.
Toontown Fair Farmers are another new team entering the fray. Based off of Disney’s Toontown Fair at Walt Disney World. Toontown was taken away during the New Fantasyland expansion at the Magic Kingdom.
The team last year was the Horizon Dreaming Doers this year they are just the “Dreamers.” Last year they were defeated in the second round by the Norway Trolls (who went on to win the whole tournament.) This year they look for redemption. Horizons is beloved by many… but does it have enough support to win it all?
The Never Built Conference
Western River Explorer’s
The team is a second year team for Extinct Magic Madness. The team is based off of the never built concept of the Western River Expedition. The attraction was suppose to be built at Walt Disney World. It was going to be a big attraction in Frontierland.
Tony Baxter’s Balloon Riders
The second year team for Extinct Magic Madness. The team is based off of Tony Baxter’s idea of Discovery Bay. A theme park land for Disney that never got off the drawing board. The land was going to be a tribut to Jules Verne and H.G Wells. This is how Discovery Bay was described in 1976.
… an age of discovery and expansion. Here would be located attractions based on the motion pictures “Island at the Top of the World” and “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” the latter featuring “undersea” dining in the Grand Salon of Captain Nemo’s famous submarine.
Edison Square Electricity
The new team is based off of a mini land that was planned for Disneyland. The land was going to be a progressive town in the 19th century showcasing on how one invention by Thomas Edison changed lives.
Beastly Kingdom’s Stolen Dragons
The team went under a rebrand. The team was previously known as the Beastly Kingdom’s Beasties now they are the Beastly Kingdom’s Stolen Dragons. The name change in my opinion sounds better. They are based off of when the laid off Imagineers took a Dragon coaster concept to Universal Studios. Sounds familiar? Yeah that attraction is Dueling Dragons, a concept that was blatantly stolen from Disney. The attraction was scheduled to appear in the never built Beastly Kingdom. The attraction eventually ended up in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
This new Extinct Magic Madness team is based off the Villains ride concept that was suppose to replace The Great Movie Ride. This attraction was going to feature all the legendary Disney villains.
The Great Muppet Movie Riders
The second year team is looking to win it all. The team is based off of an abandon concept for The Muppets to take over The Great Movie Ride. It would be a parody within the park. The Muppets would recreate scenes from films such as Young Frankenstein and Peter Pan.
Roger Rabbit’s Red Car Trollies
This new rookie team is based off of the never built concepts of Rogger Rabbit’s Hollywood. Roger Rabbit’s Hollywood would of had Red Car Trollies up and down the street. Who Framed Roger Rabbit was a really popular film that ended up saving Disney. So to not see it come alive in the parks is very sad.
Mineral King Mountaineers
The final and new team to Extinct Magic Madness is the Mineral King Mountaineers. In the sixties Walt Disney Productions were going to build a ski resort in the area of Sequoia National Forest. Walt was planning big things for Mineral King Ski Resort but the project was shut down do to preservationists.
