Xbox is outselling PlayStation in Japan for the first time

This story about making progress, boiled down, in 1:07 minutes.

What’s the fuss?

For the first time in 20 years, Microsoft’s Xbox is a true contender to Sony’s PlayStation in the Japanese market. Fluke or actual progress?

The situation

Historically, Japan has been PlayStation territory.

Xbox is starting to outsell PlayStation in Japan for the first time ever, largely because of supply chain issues that have led to poor production output of the PlayStation 5.

Boiling it down

It’s easy to assume that this boost in sales from the North American based Xbox is temporary, but this may not entirely be the case.

Japanese Xbox gamers wanted to buy a Xbox, not needed to buy a Xbox.
