Protect Your BI Insights: Two-Factor Authentication

Online security must be a top priority for both individuals and enterprises. Utilizing two-factor authentication (2FA) is one of the best ways to safeguard online accounts. It significantly increases account security and provides an additional layer of protection on top of a single account password. Bold BI offers this feature to protect your accounts. This blog post will explore how to enable and disable 2FA in Bold BI.

What is two-factor authentication in Bold BI?

Enabling 2FA adds an additional layer of security to your Bold BI account, providing enhanced protection against unauthorized access. With 2FA enabled, you will be prompted to enter a verification code generated as a time-based one-time password (TOTP) during each login, further securing your account from potential intruders. Enabling 2FA adds extra protection to ensure your account stays secure, even if your password is compromised.

How does two-factor authentication work?

2FA works based on two types of security mechanisms: TOTPs and one-time passwords (OTPs). Bold BI’s 2FA works based on a TOTP algorithm that generates a new one-time password every 30 seconds based on the current time. TOTP is more secure than OTP because it is valid for only a short period of time and cannot be reused or predicted by a hacker.

How to configure two-factor authentication in Bold BI

You can enable or disable 2FA for any Bold BI user account. Follow these steps to enable 2FA in Bold BI:

  1. Go to the Two-Factor Authentication tab under the Security section and click Enable Two-Factor Authentication as shown in the following figure. You can navigate to the Security page with the following URL: http://<your-domain>/user/security?view=2fa.
