The spotlight lesson

During the show, the directors repeatedly put the spotlight on someone or something to draw attention to it and allow their colleagues to do their work to prepare for the next scenes in the background.

Elementary, dear Amanda, you might say. That’s a live show on stage!

True, but it made me think about quite a lot of things.

Like the fact they sometimes put the spotlights on scenes that were not meaningful, not even spectacular.

Why would they do that?

Because they need that time and space in the background to arrange the important spectacular scenes that come next. So, they put the spotlight on little events so the public doesn’t notice the making of important stuff.

Does this sound familiar? It is a very common tactic to divert attention so you can have the peace, quiet and privacy to get the heavy-weight stuff done.

That’s how important wheels are turned. The ones that really matter.
