Sparky rocking with Memphis onstage!!

At boldstart, we sometimes have ideas that are stamped into our minds for years, leading us to search for the ideal solution to solve it. In the case of data streaming platforms, for us it was a 3-year journey that started with pain points we were hearing from devs around implementing kafka & rabbitmq and the high costs associated with the managed services companies were delivering in the space. We talked to smart teams across the world over those 3 years searching for a solution.

When we were first introduced to Yaniv Ben Hemo, through our friend Gil Dibner at Angular Ventures, we knew the search was over. From the beginning, Yaniv showed a deep understanding of the existing stream processing solutions and the challenges data engineers, developers, and devops had using them. He had deep empathy for the end user pain points and demonstrated how specific changes in infrastructure standards over the years had opened up the opportunity to deliver a much better developer experience to stream processing.

Today we are thrilled to announce boldstart’s day one partnership co-leading Memphis $5.5M seed round with Angular Ventures. Memphis is building a next-gen stream processing platform that takes minutes to set up, enables multi-tenancy from the start, and has monitoring and governance capabilities natively built in. We are grateful to partner with Yaniv, Avraham, Idan, and Sveta on the journey.

Stream processing platforms are essentially the central nervous system for real-time data whether application logs, app-created events, or user-created events. Routing this data from producer to consumer is incredibly challenging. Not only does the data need to be maintained but also the order of the data being sent, making sure it’s going to the right consumer, not dropping data, and being able to scale up and down with different volumes while maintaining that consistency.

Who said stream processing couldn’t look beautiful

Memphis is rapidly becoming the platform of choice for companies to either replace or augment their existing streaming platforms. The reason is because of the thoughtful design of Memphis. It literally takes minutes to set up as it’s natively built upon Kubernetes.

One customer even said: “What used to take three months in Kafka takes three minutes with Memphis. And with 90% fewer costs in the process.”

Schema registry and Gitops practices like version management are baked into the OSS product, it doesn’t require buying an add-on product to solve these challenges. The UI for integration and monitoring is delightful to use and intuitive. Cluster management and Day 2 Operations burdens are a thing of the past with Memphis’ “smart broker” understanding the data consumer needs and enabling efficient and auto-scaled resource consumption.

Try out the interactive demo on the website!

In the current macro environment with costs and resources being scrutinized, Memphis delivers a delightful developer experience with simplicity, governance, monitoring, auto-scaling, and cost efficiency all in one platform. If it sounds too good to be true, check it out for yourself with a demo at the bottom of the website or on Github! You can also view case studies from Gastromatic and Kela to learn more from practitioners directly.

The Memphis team is expanding rapidly with a large roadmap ahead of them requested by customers all over the world. If you want to make an impact on mission critical data infrastructure, please reach out and I’ll put you in touch with the team!
