Welcome to Boldstart: Natalie Ledbetter (Head of People and Platform) & Shomik Ghosh (Principal)
Ten years ago, we set out to build a firm specializing in being a founder’s first call. As a startup we learned a lot by doing, helping our portfolio companies build their founding teams, engage advisors, and meet potential customers. As Paul Graham said, we did things that didn’t scale, tested ways to get better and grew our team very carefully.
Today, I am thrilled to announce two new members of boldstart’s team. We have an incredible opportunity to upshift our capability with two force multipliers, Shomik Ghosh, our first Principal and Natalie Ledbetter our new head of People and Platform. Both bring unique experience to our team and we are beyond excited to work with them.
We got to know Shomik over two years as he worked on growth stage investments in enterprise software companies at our LP, Top Tier Capital. While there, he worked on investments in companies like CircleCI, Anaplan, Shape Security, Snyk and others. We quickly learned that he shared our passion for early stage enterprise software (which is not for everyone 😃).
He’s endlessly curious, always learning and did an incredible job, not only networking with our founders but also bringing senior executive talent to their teams. Shomik showed all of the instincts, drive and empathy that we were looking for in our first Principal hire. We’re especially delighted that he moved from SF to join us in NYC!
We have been searching for someone to help take our platform to the next level and met Natalie thanks to an introduction from our friend Dipti Salopek, VP of People @ Snyk. She is a rockstar with over 15 years of people operations experience, ranging from building, growing and running talent acquisition teams, to owning human resources, and growing large scale corporate accounts.
Previously, Natalie was VP of People at Stash and helped grow the company from 10–275 employees. She will be working to support our founders in scaling their teams and their learnings through active engagement with our talented community of product, marketing, sales, and engineering leaders. In the last month alone, 3 of our advisors have joined portfolio companies in senior roles, and we are excited to amplify this in 2020.
Not only do we strive to be the first call for founders starting companies, but also for the talented people building those companies. Stay tuned for more on this from Natalie in the coming months. We are fired up to continue our mission for the next 10 years, partnering with amazing teams to build market leading enterprise companies from idea to IPO.
