At boldstart we love founders on a mission to make developers’ lives easier. We’ve seen these founders across developer infrastructure — like Steven and Guillaume making developers faster with Liveblocks’ pre-built components, and Guy Podjarny allowing developers to find and fix security vulnerabilities with Snyk.

Sometimes these founders create brand new categories, and other times they completely reinvent existing ones to be developer-first. Today, most API Gateway tooling requires adoption of a complex and time-consuming to implement platform. Yet, most developers building APIs just want to get to an effective solution to their most immediate problem (be it auth or rate limiting) quickly. We were thrilled to find Zuplo, giving developers a way to get up and running with a basic gateway in two minutes and also easily scale as workloads exponentially increase.

Today, we’re happy to (finally!) announce our support for the Zuplo team. We wrote a check at “Inception” back in November 2021 alongside Box Group, Martin Gontovnikas (Gonto), and Boldstart founders Guy Podjarny and Dimitri Sirota, and now the Zuplo team has announced their full seed round led by Trilogy in which we participated.

When we met them, we knew Josh and Nate were the right founders to approach this space. Since meeting at Microsoft, Josh and Nate have long histories working on developer-focused infrastructure products. Josh served as the founding PM for the Azure mobile services platform at Microsoft, as well as working at Facebook and Stripe, and Nate was early at Auth0 and then focused on Developer platforms at Salesforce. Both realized the need for an API gateway that was first and foremost for developers, and came together to build Zuplo.

Zuplo isn’t just about a quick startup experience — it’s the next generation API experience. And, after Zuplo is set up, the gateway is fully programmable. Rather than having to spend endless time on platform configuration, developers can use their own editor and a GitOps workflow to make any customizations. Zuplo is an API gateway truly built for the edge. Customers run on edge networks and can deploy to a single region (earth). Finally Zuplo is built to scale making it easy for operations to set and forget. We’re excited to continue to partner with Zuplo, and you can try out Zuplo today.
