#22 BOLT Vault: Opportunity 26/3/2020

This Vault, we focus on how BOLT is turning the crisis into #opportunity. This includes adapting our content and lives around changes brought about the lockdowns and postponement of events. Let’s stay strong while we are #alonetogether!

First and Foremost

The coronavirus has drastically impacted financial and crypto markets worldwide, and BOLT is no exception. We wish to reassure everyone that BOLT is a long-term project. The founders and the team of more than 30 full-time employees are striving to improve the project by turning the crisis into opportunities.

Token Matters

To reiterate Jamal and Christel’s words, we are:

⚡Committed to increasing the value of the token and are implementing measures to do so, as this is in the long-term interest of our holders, our community and the BOLT project;

NOT selling tokens owned by the team;

⚡Planning migration of BOLT tokens from BEP-2 to ERC-20 to enhance demand and liquidity; and

⚡Implementing token utility measures and ramping up adoption and utility even further…

#ICYMI, read the updated tokenomics report here.

Upcoming Projects

Here are some exciting projects that we are working on! The partnerships will be announced when ready:

Hisense: Aside from our TV & cloud collaboration, we are working on a token adoption project with Hisense South Africa & MENA region…

China & Africa expansion: We are licensing BOLT’s content for distribution into China and Africa with a major global telco!

Stake: We are discussing with a business partner to license Stake for the cricket audience in India.

BOLT+ on-the-go: Discussions are ongoing for distribution of BOLT content on Uber+Lyft vehicles in Canada.

Stay Home with BOLT+

It may be uncertain times, but our Content Team is using the opportunity to implement some game-changing ideas for our content. The lack of live sports matches has levelled the playing field for all media companies and demonstrated that BOLT’s strategy to not focus only on live sports matches is prudent. Coming up, you can expect:

  • Lighthearted and uplifting, short-form content
  • Challenges, throwbacks, comedic skits and more!
  • More content throughout the week!

Stake

We are creating a new experience for Stake, in light of the cancellation of many live football tournaments.

Hint: Some e-gamers may be involved!

Lightning Round

Thanks for joining our first Lightning Round community test! To improve delivery on iOS devices, we are conducting another community test on Saturday, 4 April 1pm GMT.

Register and instructions will be emailed 1 day before. PS: The questions have not changed, so only join us if you missed the last opportunity. Those who have registered are in the mailing list and should not register again.

New Community Content!

You asked, we delivered! We are proud to announce the launch of our community expansion campaign in April, beginning with the translation of BOLT’s content in Turkish and Bengali!

Over the next quarter, look out as we continue to unveil BOLT’s content in more languages and bring BOLT to new communities. We are working closely with community managers to translate our content, and hope to extend this to content within BOLT+!

If you’re interested to translate BOLT’s content to your native language, register your interest to dave@bolt.global!

#WFH

It’s business as usual for the BOLT team, as we have some major partner deadlines and project deliveries coming up. Find out how the team is adapting to the new operating requirements across the globe, beginning with our new hire, Avinash!

Avinash, Motion Graphic Designer from India

“Hi everyone, I just started working for BOLT and am responsible for producing motion graphics. I’ve been working from home as India has mandated a 3 week lock-down. My work is not affected but I have been cooking more often. My family is safe as there are no cases in my hometown.”

Alvin, Systems Manager from the Philippines

“Due to Malaysia’s movement control order (MCO), all KL employees are required to work from home. It’s not a big change as we sometimes need to maintain the support services from home, outside of working hours. Fortunately, my family is safe in the Philippines and cooperating with the mandatory government lockdown!”

Roshni, Content Production Coordinator from Canary Islands

“The London team has been working from home for the past 2 weeks. While it is comfortable, it is harder to coordinate production and maintain communication but we have come up with solutions to film remotely. Luckily, my family is safe in Hong Kong, where the situation is more controlled!”

Nil, Lead Developer from Spain

“In Singapore, we telecommute where possible. While it’s easier to focus at home, it’s not as easy to share ideas since we are physically apart. The situation where my family is living in El Masnou, Spain, is not bad — the groceries are not running out but my grandmother and parents are staying home for their safety.”

Next AMA

Got more questions? We remain committed to regularly meeting with the community, with our next monthly AMA scheduled on 2 April. Submit your questions here and remember to tune in to our Zoom session next Thursday!
