Here’s to every company, who is just getting started with Internet of Things, and is looking for a path of least resistance to ultimately working on Scalable Products and Solutions.

Why IoT?

Internet of Things is expected to be a $19 trillion industry by 2020. Now isn’t this one of the biggest opportunities for those already absorbed into the tech space? The pie is massive and there is a chunk for everyone willing to work on this technology.

It’s not just about the money.

It is also expected that there will be 30 billion devices connected to the Internet. Let’s break that down a bit, this means that there will be an average of 6 connected devices per person. The SCALE is humongous. It is the biggest, most grandest technology after the invention of the Internet itself.

So how do you orient yourself so as to be building a scalable IoT product or service in the near future? and more importantly, how do you get through the IoT filter, when there’s thousands of other companies looking for the same spot as you?

Get Noticed

The best way to get some kickass IoT project is by getting yourself noticed as an IoT expert, and to be an expert, you need to start training people! The best segments to train are college students and professionals working in various tech and other companies. The quality of training you provide and the network you build through training can go a long way in bringing you those large scale projects.

I am going to share a little bit about the path we took, which we found to be very fruitful. Our company Inventrom Pvt. Ltd., started working with IoT in 2014 and at the same time also started trainings on IoT. While training, we came across some incredible products and solutions to work on, opportunities keep coming while you keep getting better at what you’re doing. When you provide a high quality training to more than 4000 individuals on IoT, the best thing you can get is a good word, and this word can be powerful enough to reach the top of those big barked trees we called MNC’s.

While training brings in enough dough for your cake making process, it is the opportunities that come along in the mix that help you scale and get that super glazed icing on the top. Inventrom is now an IoT consultant and solution provider to large FMCG companies who are embracing IoT for their processes as well as products. Marico is using Bolt to build next generation connected packaging which will automatically place the order of item to the nearest vendor when it’s over. Banking and financial institutes are working with Bolt to improve security and user interaction. Following Bolt’s successful pilot with an MNC’s agri-business division, the company is now planning to scale its Bolt deployment to one lakh farms. We have found this to be our least resistance path and it has been working well for most other IoT startups who have started off with trainings on IoT.
