“The only thing that is constant is change”- Heraclitus, An ancient greek philosopher.

In any organisation, with a changing workforce and millennials coming into the picture, learning and development is not just a perk, it is an expectation, a part of our career development.

In any business, we need to constantly come up with new ideas and innovations. This adds value to the job and keeps one’s personal knowledge base up to date. At Inventrom we recognise the need for this and have a few initiatives in place to support a learning culture. Let me take you through them.

Continuous Learning Policy

With this continuous learning policy at Inventrom in place we have gotten into the habit of learning something new, once every month. To explain this process in brief, it’s a monthly learning program where employees choose their topic of learning and work on it. At the end of the month they should have applied their learning to their work and a detailed report of it must be submitted to their reporting manager. Here are a couple of success stories from this program.

Our Software Developer Sourabh Tiwari learnt about developing a shell script to automate the task of setting up the environment for any project. Here is the success story that he posted.

Pranav Pai Vernekar attended a webinar Start-up Metrics for Pirates, on Platzi.com by Dave McLeod. It’s a must watch. It explained about creating metrics for understanding a customer better. To do that, data has to be collected at these areas. i.e. at Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral, Revenue. To view all this data we created a dashboard.

We even had an employee of a partner company benefit from the learning and the subsequent implementation.

I would like to mention another success story of when one of us decided to learn photography as a part of the continuous learning program. Inventrom was scheduled to launch the new version, V2, of Bolt along with a new variant of Bolt Card (GSM based). To develop all the marketing material we needed high quality pictures of the Bolt card. Ravi, our in-house photography hobbyist, was asked to take some pictures of the units. However, his previous experience was only with candid & wildlife photography. Product photography was a completely new domain for him. After a 2 month workshop specialising in product photography he was able to take excellent pictures of the Bolt units which was then used in all the marketing material for the launch. Here is his success story.

Fireside Chats

As a part of our Learning and Development Program at Inventrom, we organise Fireside Chats where we invite people from various eminent organisations and startups to come over and have a chat with our team.

In past, we have had speakers like Mr. Akshay Shekher, Senior Software Developer at Amazon spoke on Go Programming Language, Mr. Praisudi S, CMO of Rapido(India’s Bike Taxi App) spoke on Marketing Techniques, Mr. Vikas Jha, CEO of Plash Media spoke on the importance of Storytelling for Business Development, Abhijeet Tamba, CEO of EME Automation spoke on PLC Systems amongst many others.

Usually, these talks are pretty casual and go on for about an hour or so. This includes a presentation or a talk followed by a Q&A session. Here a few memories of Fireside Chats

As Rahul Kumar Singh presents the answer to one of the questions posed by Mr. Akshay Shekher during the Go Programming language session
Mr. Praisudi S telling us about his experience at Rapido
Mr. Vikas Jha CEO of Plash Media as he tells his experience as a story, engaging all of us. Ryan is at the edge of his seat listening intently.
Chirag Parmar who interned with us presenting a token of appreciation to Isha Malegaonkar from Merican Consultants after her session on Personal Finance.

We also encourage employees to attend workshops and seminars which are sponsored by the company. Our employees spend a considerable time every day reading about the latest news on trends of the industry, attending online seminars or speaking to people of the industry to learn from their experience. These best practises have helped us all grow much faster and learning is now a part of our daily routine.

If you like the way you we work here at Inventrom send us your CV at career@inventrom.com. Do not forget to mention which profile you would be interested in. You can visit our career page to check out the job openings.
