No regrets,

right?

Maybe not.

Maybe chasing a life with no regrets is bad advice. Maybe living without the feeling of disappointment in past choices is a poor choice itself.

Maybe avoiding regret is our way of fooling ourselves into believing we control our destinies. Maybe lacking a posture of remorse is our method of coping with failure. Maybe our visceral reaction to regret is indicative of just how guilty we have judged ourselves to be.

Maybe running from regret is how we reconcile the deficiencies in our character — the ones that gnaw at our consciouses at night.

Just…maybe.
