A Tree grows in Kochi

A tree has grown at an acute angle to the ground.

What forces have made it so?

Parents sit on it,

watching their children play.

The trunk is scratched,

with names, aspirations, promises

and forms an arch over the footpath,

heralding all that goes on beneath it.

Perhaps this is what it also means,

to be a tree.
