Our Hearts are in Control of More Than Just Our Circulatory System

The following is adapted from Sex, Drugs, and Radical Self-Expression by Barry Williame Magliarditi.

All through time in cultures around the world, the spiritual consciousness of the heart has been given special significance. On Valentine’s Day, do people send their lovers a picture of a kidney? Or a liver? Or a brain? No, they send a heart. Not the visceral physical version, but a representation of it just the same.

The heart is our true centre. Both spiritually and physically. You can be brain dead but still alive if your heart is beating, but you cannot be alive if your heart is dead. The heart is also the first part to develop when we’re a fetus. The heart and circulatory system are up and running before the brain even begins to develop!

When someone feels something deeply, do they say they feel it in their mind? No, they say they feel it in their “heart of hearts.” When we want to tell someone we love them, do we say, “I love you with all my mind”? No, it’s the heart.

And it’s our heart that will keep us feeling the uplifting emotions like love and joy, not our brain.

The Spiritual Heart

The heart is more than a physical thing inside of us. There’s a spiritual heart that is tapped into a much higher knowing than we can mentally understand. Our spirit — our true self — is within our heart. The True Source, whatever you want to call It, is a spirit, and therefore, our true self is also a spirit. It’s a spark of the True Source. Through our heart, we have a beautiful connection with the True Source: God, Allah, Nature…

Why do you think we say “follow your heart” when trying to make important decisions? It’s because the heart has a consciousness that’s more evolved than our brain’s consciousness and knows the real truth — what is best for us.

If that’s a concept you feel resistance around, let me propose the following: Prove to me that your mind is real. Show it to me under an MRI. Show me your thoughts. Your brain will show up, just like your physical heart does. I could see the quality of your thoughts in terms of biochemical changes and your hormones. Maybe you have heightened cortisol if you’re feeling threatened or on edge. But you cannot show me your mind…yet, it exists. So why not the energetic heart?

The Heart and Mind Bluetooth Connection

When I talk about the heart, I’m talking about an innate wisdom, a guiding force that we are somehow connected to. And when you get the right connection with your heart, the brain comes into alignment. Most people think they need to control their heart’s feelings with their brain. But in fact, it’s the other way around.

Our brain is there to help us run our bodies and to learn the lessons from our experiences. But the heart is the special tool with which we can improve our connection with the Source. While the spiritual heart is not physical, it’s just as easy to use once you practice opening your heart for some time.

You actually need to use your heart to get your mind in proper alignment. Think of it like this: the heart is your device, and you’re trying to get your brain to pick up a Bluetooth connection to it. When that connection happens, the mind comes under the influence of the wisdom of the heart. You know which way to go.

Having the heart and mind working together as a team is the natural configuration that allows us to function at our highest good.

Your New Operating System

What I’m sharing may be difficult to comprehend if you’ve solely been living in your mind, as you’ve always been taught to do. The mind is the CEO of your life. It’s all you’ve ever known.

But your non-physical heart, your spiritual heart, that’s special. It’s something that’s much more than can be fully explained. And the more that you connect with it, the more you’re able to live in a predominant space of peace, calm, joy, love, and gratitude. You gain a new operating system.

Sure, sometimes you’ll still get pulled out and let emotions like hate, anger, and so on overrule your life. You’re only human! But the more you build that heart connection, the less this happens. And when it does happen, you don’t stay gone for a long time. You can come back to your new normal state of peace, calm, joy, and love quickly.
