Tuesday Morning Coaching

The immutable truth of information attraction is by shoehorning in a number, you’ll gain followers or buyers.

Sometimes it gets borderline ludicrous. I’ve seen such eccentric introductions as ’57 TED talks you can’t afford to miss’, and, in one extreme extreme situation, ‘213 social media tools to bulletproof your business’.

These people should be forced to carry a heavy suitcase several miles. It’s not on. You have to know when to say no.

David Cottrell (brilliant first name, by the way) hasn’t taken the subhead of this book to the widest point of the spectrum. We can handle Tuesday Morning Coaching: Eight Simple Truths to Boost Your Career and Your Life.

I like this book because it’s a guide to being better professionally, written as a story so it’s easier to digest. I’ve always found this style of teaching to sink in quicker and stay around longer. A bit like when you read something by Paolo Coelho. It moves you. It’s not all about bullet points and pullquotes. It’s meant to empathise with you, and that you empathise with the characters — in this case, Jeff the unlikely mentor and Ryan the challenged muse.

You’re ravenous for David’s eight. So here they are:

  • No Matter What!
  • … And Then Some
  • Consider It Done
  • Above All Else+
  • From Now On
  • See It, Feel It, Trust It, Do It!
  • Focus Inside Your Boat. Forget what others do. Focus on yours.
  • Knowledge Is Power

You don’t need to know why this is Tuesday coaching. But I’ll tell you. It just so happens that that was the day that David picked for Jeff and Ryan’s meetings. And who can get anything done on Mondays?

Enjoy this book. It’s carefully written. It’s not David Baldacci, but then there’s a message to be conveyed, here. We’re not looking for thriller territory. But you will be thrilled by the results, if you take heed as did Ryan and be the change you want to see in yourself, through this book.

Tuesday Morning Coaching: Eight Simple Truths to Boost Your Career and Your Life is available now on Amazon.
