Powered by conversational AI, the groundbreaking virtual assistant network connects visitors across three departments in the Finnish government from within a single chat window.

STAVANGER, Norway, 29 Nov. 2018 — Scandinavian software developer, boost.ai, hit another major milestone today in the development of its groundbreaking conversational artificial intelligence (AI) platform. In partnership with the Finnish government and Accenture, the Norwegian company successfully launched the world’s first virtual assistant network (VAN) making it possible for multiple, separate virtual assistants to communicate with users from within a single chat window.

Developed using natural language understanding and advanced machine learning, the VAN rollout coincides with the launch of a trio of new virtual assistants — Kamu, VeroBot and PatRek — acting as the foundation for how the network functions. Spanning three key departments within the Finnish government — Migri (immigration), Vero (taxation) and PRH/Patentti- ja Rekisterihallitus (patent & company registration), respectively — the virtual assistants are able to seamlessly “hand-off” visitors to their digital colleagues upon identifying when a user asks a question specific to each particular department.

“Boost.ai’s virtual assistant network has been instrumental in helping Migri achieve our goal of revolutionizing how we connect users across multiple governmental agencies.” said Vesa Hagström, Chief Digital Officer, Finnish Immigration Service.

This game-changing advancement in conversational AI is helping the Finnish government streamline its capacity to provide instant assistance to foreign entrepreneurs who may have questions about starting a business in Finland that spread across multiple departments.

“The virtual assistant network is a huge leap forward in providing seamless customer interaction via conversational AI,” said Lars Ropeid Selsås, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at boost.ai. “Our success today is a direct result of the hard work of the team at boost.ai, as well as the project teams in Finland, including Accenture FI/LV.”

Accessible via migri.fi/en, prh.fi/en and vero.fi/en, the virtual assistants that make up the VAN can communicate with users in English, with support for Finnish available exclusively through Kamu for now. The initial cooperation between the three virtual assistants will continue until June 2019, with the Finnish government hoping to expand the network further throughout 2019, bringing on board additional departments.
