Dear Greece,
Yesterday, every market on earth dropped, except Bitcoin.
Your country is in shambles. You shut down your banks again, the first time was in 2013 when the price of Bitcoin was $20/Bitcoin, and as Greece and Cyprus tried to find places to store money, other than their banks, they turned to Bitcoin. Greece has taken 2 bailouts in the last 7 years amounting to $264B in debt. Basically, you are in the same situation that every student in the United States is in with student debt, but at the scale of the 50th largest economy in the world: you took out a loan that will be impossible to pay back. It’s too late to play the blame game. It is time for decisive action.
What will actually happen.
We all know what will actually happen. We see it happen over and over again. There will be a bail out, because for some reason the world has set the expectation that if you completely fail, you will be saved by debt to the rest of the world and will never be able to pay it back, a never ending spiral of death that will eventually catch up to us.
What Greece should do
Break off from the EU, Germany doesn’t want you there anyway. But don’t go back to the Drachma. Going back to the Drachma would be like me switching back to Windows 95.

So as the CEO of Bitcoin, my opinion is for Greece to adopt Bitcoin. Be the first. You can’t issue it to your people, you will no longer be in control of your monetary policy, your people will. This is the evolution currency.
Your monetary policy failed. Give the control of money to your people. Bitcoin is the way to do that. This will be the boldest move of any government ever. It will be an experiment, it will be a test, but at this point, what do you have to lose. Your citizens are leaving the country, do something that will make them want to stay.
What this would do:
- Attract the best talent to Greece
- Entrepreneurs would show up in droves
- People will be encouraged by the innovation
- Greece will be ahead of the rest of the world rather than behind
