I have used many influencer search platforms. To be frank, many of them just SUCK. We search influencers almost every hour, every day. A very common search scenario for our clients is: Find all YouTubers who have done videos for their competitors. Since we have lots of game clients who want to get into US market, so the question naturally transforms into “find all YouTubers in the United States who has reviewed game X”.
The first thing we do is to simply put the game title into the search box. Actually, let’s use a real world example and search a new mobile game called “DreamWorks Universe of Legends” , below are some of the results from one influencer search platform:
Really? my beautiful game title was broken into four single separated words? How do I expect to find some good match from this? Apparently, the search result makes no sense.
Let’s go and test another platform:
Not bad, at least the title is still integral. How is the result?
Oops. my search is SOOO~~ specific..If that is the case, then it is basically not usable for our clients.
Let’s try another one. Since I saw lots of Google ads for them, so they at least have the confidence:
Wow impressive! the words were not broken down, and there are results returned! (Btw, XXX team, you should do a better job on your UX though.) Nevertheless, let’s examine the results:
I went into this channel, and search “DreamWorks Universe of Legends”. None of the videos contains this game. I do see videos containing “DreamWorks”
2.https://www.youtube.com/user/ScreenRant/ You gonna be kidding me! There is no way this YouTuber has done this game! So I searched directly inside this channel on YouTube:
Sadly, this YouTuber has not done this game either.
3. Another one.
Well, I know what is going on here. It seems that my beautiful game title was again broken down into separate words under the hood, and return me a bunch of irrelevant people!
I seldom give up. So I continue my search, there are like hundreds of influencer search platforms, many of them even do not allow me to input keywords, and some others start asking for money already.
Let’s try our Social SaaS:
Let’s also examine individual result:
All these Youtubes have done video regarding “DreamWorks Universe of Legends”. That is what we call search relevancy, and that is what our platform is good at.
As to why we can return more relevant results in this case? It is simple! Because we actually search all videos! Meaning, we search video titles, video contents, and even video scripts! We are talking about searching billions of videos in our database, and then return user the actual YouTubers instead of videos at mealtime. How cool is that!
I do not want to get into the technical details of how we implement our system unless I receive enough claps to satisfy my vanity.(I mean thousands:-)
