CRAP — Principles of DESIGN, mercuryworks.com
  • CRAP Principles ?

Fundamental guideline for creating visually appealing and user-friendly websites.

CRAP stands for Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity.

  • UEFA.com?

Official website of the Union of European Football Associations.

Let’s analyze...GOOD design is CRAP!

Our group, comprised of Nanushka, Carlos, and Daniel, was tasked with analyzing the application of design principles on the official website of the Union of European Football Associations, UEFA.com. Our primary focus revolved around the CRAP principles: Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity. Our assignment involved examining how these principles are implemented on UEFA.com to enhance its design effectiveness and user experience.

To simplify our design analysis im going to put in in the same categories as our guideline CRAP described.

Contrast — UEFA.com effectively uses bold colors like blues, yellow, whites against neutral backgrounds to highlight headlines, buttons, and key information. This ensures users can quickly find important content.

Repetition — Consistency is maintained throughout UEFA.com by repeating design elements like navigation menus and headers across pages card information dislaying information about differents content regarding football. This creates a familiar experience for users, all the pages throuht the websites have that consistency in colors and displays

Alignment — UEFA.com’s content is organized into grids and columns, making it easy for user to understand. There some areas of the webpage that could be better allign like the view all news button for example it could be more to the center, just right below you have the sponsor footer, too much information in the same area.

Proximity: Related content on UEFA.com is grouped closely together, while separate sections are clearly separated. This helps users find relevant information quickly and navigate the site effortlessly.
