WAY2BIT will be merged with Friends Games, a core affiliate of Kakao Games, and we are glad to announce more details as follows.

WAY2BIT and Friends Games decided to merge through BOD resolution each held on May 27, 2021, and the merger process is expected to be finalized in early July.

The two companies merge into the ‘Friends Games’ corporation, and CEO Song Gye-han and CEO Jung Wook will be CEOs of Friends Games. The two representatives will continue to carry out the development and business, the core of each company of WAY2BIT and Friends Games and maximize business synergy by integrating their respective professional competencies.

After the merger, the merged corporation plans to build a platform that distributes the digital value of cultural contents such as games, music, videos, and artworks by using blockchain-based ‘NFT’ technology. In addition, the company is also exploring ways to combine metaverse and NFT technologies.

­Friends Games, a casual game developer founded in 2018, has launched Kakao Friends IP-based game ‘Friends Town’ and is developing various genres of mobile games such as a new game ‘Project King (tentative name)’. As CEO Jung Wook joined Friends Games in March, he predicted aggressive business expansion such as metaverse and NFT beyond the casual game industry.
