We will need to draft a constitution (an End User License Agreement written on a wiki), design a new passport (a YoubiKey?), create, issue, and mine our own currency (fork Litecoin’s source code and start our own alt currency), inaugurate our global development bank (an incorporation in the Cayman Islands or Bahamas, hooked up to Stripe or PayPal), set up our embassies (IP-based VPNs serving digital citizenship services, like PDF signing certificates, SSL certificates, file server access, Jabber protocol access, etc), develop our institutions (multiple intranets running open-source CMSs on decentralized web servers), kickstart our Digital Commons (a common space for sharing photographs, movies, books, poetry, paintings, etc), shore up our voting mechanisms (block chained voting system), deliver services (shared access to distributed physical resources across the world, like an open-sourced version of Airbnb + EatWith + RelayRides + Shipwire).

Our nation will have its own flag (an animated GIF) and it will have an anthem (a downloadable MP3 file). Our nation will select and rotate ambassadors (community and social media managers), and assign rotating limited seats at the executive, legislative, and judiciary. If any of these

Citizens will have right of assembly and collective bargaining in forums.

Our schools and universities will be 100% online, but with local chapters for knowledge sharing and debate.

The nation will not measure GDP. There will be no such a thing as “domestic”.

There’s work to be done. We will need software engineers, designers, lawyers, legislators, doctors, teachers, artists, poets. Who’s in?
