Enzo’s Monday Motion #39: Abstract

There’s more to abstract animation then art or VJ sets. The next six motion pieces are proof of that.

9 Squares

One blog that I’ve been following for a while now is 9 Squares. A Collaborative GIF Project by nine designers using only four colours in three seconds. Here’s the full collection of the first year.

The Dark side

The car industry is in bad weather and Rolls Royce needs to rejuvenate badly. To introduce the special dark editions of their models ‘Ghost’ and ‘Wraith’ they released this abstract and dark teaser video. It made me think of the title sequence of The girl with the dragon tattoo. But instead of CGI it was all filmed using ferrofluid, laser-cut steel numbers and powerful magnets. Concept by Imagination, directed by Marcus Moresby and produced by Found.

Biology

Andy Lomas’s so called morphogenetic creations are inspired by biological processes. He explores how complex structures and forms can be created by digital simulation of growth.

Music

Even though his name sounds very Dutch, producer and DJ ‘Overwerk’ is fully Canadian. His latest track ‘Winter’ was released with an abstract music video that perfectly matches this week’s theme.

THANK YOU GOOGLE

Not every (abstract) piece has to be entirely created by the artist. Connor Griffith uses images from Google Earth Pro and free sounds from the web to create brilliant pieces of motion like the following named ‘Ripple’.
