Enzo’s Monday Motion #190: this year’s Christmas Campaign trend is the classic hit that sticks in your head. Five campaigns that dream of a white (and well spent) Christmas.

Where you shop matters

Online shopping isn’t a trend, it’s the new standard. Visa card supports local stores by encouraging people to shop in their hometown.

Thirteen independent shopkeepers sing-along Queen’s Somebody to Love. The cast is not only very well chosen, but also the shots are very smartly filmed. The slightly off tone and off timing bring extra character and charm.

Visa continuous their support-campaign from 2018 when owners sang along to Mariah Carey. Concept by Saatchi & Saatchi London and directed by Gary Freedman through Independent.

Get more out of giving

British online retailer Very sticks to their Pixar-like storyline. This year it’s all about altruism and generosity.

Where the whole world is getting sick of Aldi’s Kevin the Carrot, the characters of Very are the star of 2019. Mainly due to the strong and well-thought message, storyline and great execution. The Rudimental track got a big makeover and was sang by a local amateur choir. Great work from the same team of St. Luke creatives and animation wizards from Passion Animation Studios.

Jumper around

A great classic will stick all day in your head. Marks & Spencers hope to add their brand (and sales) to this memory.

The creatives at Odd have thrown storyline and charity overboard. No winter goes by without a warm and fuzzy new jumper. The mash-up between M&S’s sweaters collection and the 80’s classic might have hit the jackpot. Directed by Jake Nava and produced by Cherry Studios.

The holy grail?

Lays chips prove that it takes more than a classic hit to charm and convince the crowd.

Even though Anna Kendrick is in her element, the campaign is everything but Pitch Perfect. The over the top vibe and product placement will surely attract teenage girls, but I’m afraid others will lose their appetite.

The unsung hero

Choirs rule the Christmas charts and Milka joins the leaderboard.

The concept by Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam might be a bit too sweet, but it does match the brand well. Director duo Dr. Bowman and Cake productions gave the story that warm and filmic feeling of Christmas movies we all love.

Last Edition

Every brand tries to differentiate itself from the rest. These five trademarks have mastered their product placement to a fine art.
