With few in-person events going ahead again this year, and with the recent news that DevCon is postponed again, there is a palpable sense of excitement around EthCC (Ethereum Community Conference), which is happening this month in Paris.

EthCC, which has been running since 2017, was already the second-largest Ethereum conference in the world and, with the next DevCon date still unclear, Paris is likely to host this year’s largest Ethereum conference.

We at Boson Protocol are proud to sponsor this eagerly awaited event because we recognize, and passionately believe in, the power of community to drive technological and economic change.

Community as a driver of success

As anyone working in and around the decentralization ecosystem knows, community has always been a huge driver of Ethereum’s success. Even before the Frontier release of Ethereum’s mainnet in 2015, developers and creators around the world were gripped by the possibilities of this new World Computer and were busily building and creating tutorials and sample repos for others to start honing their skills on the testnet.

By the time the genesis block was mined, there was already a massive network effect and a pool of developers who had learned how to write smart contracts. This kind of momentum is difficult to stop. Ethereum’s grass-roots community has remained its driving force. The sheer volume of knowledge shared by the community means that learning Solidity is, more often than not, the starting point for someone who wants to dip their toes in the decentralization waters.

Community is all-important. It is at conferences, hackathons and other in-person events that serendipitous meetings happen and friendships are forged.

EthCC has stayed true to its principles of learning and community. It remains a non-profit aimed firmly at the makers and doers who form the beating heart of this incredible ecosystem. EthCC reinforces founder Jerome de Tychey’s belief that “a blockchain conference should focus on technology, education, and showcasing the changes that doers are driving.”

The conference agenda splits the talks and workshops into different themes: Scalability, Decentralized Finance, Governance, Crypto Economics and many more. One of the most popular segments will inevitably be the Developer Tools thread, where techies can get hands-on with some of the newest, coolest and most useful protocols, libraries and tooling to help create the future of the open economy.

At Boson, we are creating an entirely new decentralized commerce ecosystem that bridges the Metaverse and the real world. Our technology is designed to enable a whole new generation of developers to build an open tokenized economy on top of the Boson Protocol foundational layer. The upcoming release of Leptonite, a reference application demonstrating the protocol’s capabilities, together with our SDK and developer documentation is designed to support everyone in understanding and implementing Boson Protocol into their applications.

With this in mind, we are delighted that Holly Atkinson, Boson’s Head of Metaverse Technology, will be running a workshop at EthCC in the Developer Tooling strand. In the workshop, she will be walking through the Boson Protocol SDK and documentation to show how to leverage our unique digital-to-physical transactions capabilities.

Once you have been inspired by Holly, remember that we have also just launched a Grant Program in order to provide practical support to individuals and teams building on top of Boson Protocol or working with us to support our ecosystem. Whether you have an amazing Metaverse Commerce idea, want to contribute to the dCommerce Stack or are able to contribute to our toolkit or community, we welcome your application.

Talk to us about open opportunities

If you are going to EthCC, don’t miss Holly’s workshop — and also come see us at our booth, where you can learn more about our technology, our community, our Token Engineering education program and even how to become part of our team and join the Boson mission.

We are working with some of the best and brightest in token engineering, game theory, marketplace design and protocol design. Among our team members and advisers we can count Dr Akaki Mamageishvili, Aditya Asgaonkar, Marina Markezic and Dr Zeynep Gurguc as well as a host of other talents. If you would like the opportunity to learn from them and contribute to Boson Protocol, we’ll see you in Paris!
