As you all will probably know, we sent an all-star team of core Bosonauts to conquer the Ethereum Community Conference in Paris.

By all reports, it was a great success. We met so many amazing people and gave a live demo of our Leptonite application to redeem some Boson merch.

Why we attended has been perfectly summed up here, so let’s take a look back on what went down at this year’s EthCC, what it could mean for the future of Ethereum and cryptocurrency as a whole.

A massive highlight of the week was hearing Vitalik Buterin’s keynote titled “Things That Matter Outside of DeFi.” His presentation was a refreshing respite from token swapping and yield farming and it was clear Buterin spoke about things that he had clearly been pondering for some time.

While his focus was predominantly on social media and urging greater responsibility among Ethereum developers to combat against vocal shills, the seed has certainly been planted in many Ethereans to start exploring what else can be done with decentralization — perhaps something like dCommerce.

The team got to meet with so many amazing people in the space, from VCs to advisors to potential partners, the list is too great to list. What we can say is that many conversations are continuing and we look forward to sharing the fruits of our labor in the near future.

In attendance from left to right from Boson Protocol we had; Heather Swope, one of our amazing blockchain engineers, Alastair Band, who you may recognise as our Head of Community, Holly Atkinson, Head of Metaverse Technology, Jonas Seiferth, Head of Strategy and Ludovic Levalleux, one of our fantastic Tech Leads.

Let’s hear what they had to say about the event;

Jonas Seiferth:

It’s always a blast to spend a week with the Ethereum community! Everybody is deeply emerged in their field, excited about everything that’s happening and looking to collaborate rather than compete. The motto of playing infinite games rather than finite games describes this community spirit quite well!

Holly Atkinson:

It was a great honour to feature in the EthCC schedule and have the opportunity to speak about Building on Boson in my EthCC workshop. The EthCC attendees were really engaged and I made some great new connections. It seems like there’s a huge demand for what Boson Protocol can offer, and many people are excited to talk to us to find out more about how they can get involved in metaverse commerce.

I also loved meeting more of my team for the first time in Paris. Moreover, this is the first time I’ve ever come away from Paris with more Euros than I started with — from winning games of boules! Turns out that Alastair is terrible, despite his time spent living in France!

Alastair Band:

This was my first time at EthCC and it certainly did not disappoint! I had heard great things, so the bar was already set pretty high. It was such a great experience to meet some of my colleagues for the first ever time, but also to dive right into the heart of the community. Having such a diverse and engaged audience was great, and the feedback we got on Boson Protocol and Leptonite was great too.

All in all I would say it was a great success!

Heather Swope:

I enjoyed EthCC for several reasons. In the past I have attended a few in-person conferences that featured blockchain but were not dedicated to blockchain technology. Over the last 18 months, I attended several virtual conferences, but EthCC was the first in-person conference I attended that is specific to the Ethereum community. It enjoyed telling other Ethereum enthusiasts about Boson Protocol’s vision for dCommerce. It was really exciting to see how engaged and interested people were in what Boson Protocol is doing. There was a lot of enthusiasm for the protocol itself and the Leptonite application, which was built to demo how a marketplace powered by Boson Protocol could work. I also enjoyed learning about other projects, and I had some great chats with several people from other companies.

Ludovic Levalleux:

It was so good to meet people in-person, I’m glad to have shared and explained the Boson Protocol vision and see how it resonates in the community, to have talked about our projects in short and longer terms, to feel part of the blockchain/crypto revolution.

In summary, a great time was had by all. We had fun, met new friends, and made amazing connections that will drive Boson Protocol forwards. It’s fair to say that we have certainly missed face-to-face contact. We have to see you at future events in the not too distant future!
