Bossa Nova and a Brazilian musical genre created in the late 1950s, became well known for its rhythm being basically a simplified, slow, light and relaxed Rio de Janeiro samba, with jazz refinements. The song that revealed this new style was “Chega de Saudade”, made by the famous duo Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Morais, but what consolidated was the “remix” made by João Gilberto, played on the guitar in a peculiar style.

Music:

Wave — Tom Jobim

An incredible song in the extreme Bossa nova style, its sonority and speed creates a very good atmosphere to hear, as if by the sea, a real wave.

While sadness does not come — Sérgio Ricardo

Upon hearing at first, we could not identify if it is a classic Bossa Nova, however, it soon reveals itself. Its air of melancholy is purposeful, as it has a simple rhythm, but its lyrics and a sad confession, which generates complexity.

She’s Carioca — Oscar Castro

It is very similar to samba in its lyrics, but its simple rhythm leaves no doubt that it is Bossa, its poetic part creates a relaxed romantic atmosphere ideal for spending time with your love.

Have pity on me — Carlos Lyra

A song that exemplifies well what is a request to resume a relationship, with an air of regret, Lyra sings as if this feeling consumed him, not recommended for people with romantic delusions.
