Sérgio Ricardo, artistic name of João Lutfi, was a Brazilian musician, composer and singer, having also worked as an actor and film director. He participated in various cultural movements such as Bossa Nova, Cinema Novo, Protest Song and Brazilian Music Festivals. He was born on July 18, 1932 in Marilia (SP). At the age of 8, he began to study piano at the Marília Conservatory. At the age of 17, he moved to São Vicente (SP), where he worked as a sound operator and discotheque, at Rádio Cultura, and as a pianist at the nightclubs Savoi and Recreio Prainha. His 1973 album, "Sérgio Ricardo" created in the funds of his house in Urca together with his friends Piri Reis, Cassio Tucunduva, Fred Martins, Franklin da Flauta and Paulinho Camafeu, brought the famous song "Calabouço". He was infected with COVID-19 and became negative in May 2020, but died without discharge on July 23, 2020 in Rio de Janeiro, aged 88, due to heart failure.
