Like we explained to all the readers, writers, and supporters who came out to Fort Point to celebrate the launch of our new quarterly this week: the Boston Bubble is one of many services and products that we plan on using to fuel the Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism (BINJ).

For that reason and because it’s always fun to hang out with old friends and meet new ones, we’re happy to say that our mag unveiling at Bastille Kitchen brought out nearly 100 new Bubble ambassadors for heavy drinks and light discussion.

In addition to developers and media makers from publications including DigBoston, Boston Magazine, Scout, Politico, Wicked Local, and Boston.com, we were joined by readers from nearby Fort Point startups, associates we met through the Workbar network, and BINJ board member and professor-MC Akrobatik.

We have way too many awesome friends and first subscribers to acknowledge here, but special thanks to: Scott Murry, whose incredible design makes our debut of Bubble truly pop; Derek Kouyoumjian, who photographed the party and whose pics anchor the pages of the current Bubble; and to Joshua Mendes-Yesufu, whose adventures in virtual reality are featured in the first issue.

Our hope is that everyone who came out to Bastille will continue to support the Bubble — not only by becoming subscribers, but by spreading the word. The first online orders are already wrapped and off to the post office (see: cool-looking wax-sealed envelope pictured herein). With lots of help in people telling all their contacts about us, we’re confident that we can sustain Bubble and its makers indefinitely, with many more parties to come.
