Gray skies, freezing rain, 20 mph hours—that’s right—it’s springtime in Boston! You’ve probably been thinking, “When will this winter end?” and wishing you could be someplace warm like Boca with your snowbird grandparents, but alas warm weather IS on the way! So now that the warm weather is in our near future, here are some fun things to do around the city that won’t break the bank.

1. OPENING DAY & FENWAY FRANKS

It’s not spring in New England until Red Sox Opening Day, happening this Friday! Seats at Fenway may be sold out, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to miss out on the fun. In fact, you can chow down on as many Fenway Franks as your heart desires at the South Street Diner while watching your beloved sport’s team.

2. ICA FIRST FRIDAY

If you enjoy art, music, and specialty cocktails, make sure to visit the Institute of Contemporary Museum in Seaport this Friday from 6:00-9:00 PM. This Friday kicks off a month long celebration of dance with special pop-up performances throughout the night and an electrifying dance party led by some of Boston’s best DJs. Event is 21+ & tickets sell out fast, so be sure to buy them ASAP if you want to go!

3. ROCK CLIMBING AT BKB

If rock climbing at Brooklyn Boulders in Somerville has been on your list of must-tries, then the time is now! They are offering two FREE instructor-led courses on 4/10 in Learning The Ropes, they’re most popular class for beginner climbers. If you’re interested you must RSVP with your complete Yelp profile and select which class you’d prefer (one runs from 7:00-9:00 PM and the other 9:00-11:00 PM) and then await confirmation. Please note that there are no +1s as each person must RSVP & an RSVP does not guarantee confirmation.

4. INTERNATIONAL PILLOW FIGHT DAY

You may not have had a pillow fight since middle school, but this event promises to be fun! The location has yet to be disclosed (to be posted at 11:59 on 4/4 at the link below), but we do know the fight will take place somewhere in the city of Boston on Saturday 4/5. Bring your A-game, a soft pillow and leave the glasses at home. Let the games begin.

5. WALK MS BOSTON 2014

What better way to end the week than walking for a great cause? Join in to create a world free of MS this Sunday, 4/6 at Boston University. The walk will be along a 3.5-mile route with snacks, beverages, and restrooms along the way. Be sure to register online by Thursday, 4/3 at 9 am or on-site starting at 8 am on Sunday. All of the proceeds go to help people who have MS & their families, through MS education, support, advocacy, services, and research.
