How developers should rethink 2FA

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a tool that we are familiar with in the internet era. According to SearchSecurity, “2FA is a security process in which the user provides two different authentication factors to verify themselves to better protect both the user’s credentials and the resources the user can access”. We see them in our emails, we find them via SMS, and through apps that specialize in 2FA for businesses and consumers. We use 2FA in our daily lives from logging into email, signing into our bank account, and getting access to platforms needed for our daily needs. These are critical pillars to our day to day use on the web.

Then why are we delivering 2-factor authentication in another form? At Botdelive, we believe there’s another way and we believe that developers should meet their customers where they are.

We believe that developers should meet their customers where they are.

Today, many 2FA tools are not built for the mobile messaging era. Email is clunky, and downloading a mobile app for infrequent use is not ideal for a vast majority of mobile users around the globe. Yes, there are ways to validate via SMS but we are passed the peak usage. The graph below shows the SMS usage in the United States only, however, the global picture is more stark.

The top downloaded app across the globe are communication and messaging apps. More specifically, Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat, Telegram are becoming hubs for groups to communicate and share valuable information.

This is where the customers spend most of their time on mobile, and this is where we want to be.

Botdelive has built a 2FA (we also have a messaging app push notification product) product that is easy for developers to deploy. We are building tools that allow developers to get one step closer to where their customers and potential users are spending their time, and without friction allow the users to validate their identity.

Are you interested in meeting your users where they are and building a great 2FA experience for your users? Go to Botdelive.com and get the code in a matter of minutes.
