User Acquisition Tracking and Drip Marketing for Messenger Bots

One of the biggest challenges we’ve heard from bot markers is tracking where your users are coming from.

This week Facebook launched referral tracking for bots. Today we’re pleased to announce that release 0.2 of Botmetrics, the only enterprise grade analytics solution for chat bots, allows bot makers to now track user acquisition channels performance and to send custom welcome messages based on these channels.

To get started enable messaging_referrals event in your Facebook App Webhooks. Next on Botmetrics, head over to the Insights Menu, Select Referrer from the Dropdown and start tracking where your users are coming from. You can add additional criteria like the Sign Up Date or the Number of interactions to create even further targeted Segments.

In addition, this unlocks a really powerful feature: sending messages to your users depending on how you acquired them. For example if you want to send a special welcome message to visitors from “Product Hunt” simply setup a recurring notification using the referrer as the segmentation criteria.
