Hey guys,

The main problem retailers and eCommerce website owners as a whole face is cart abandonment.

The reasons could be endless, from bad description of product, to tedious add to cart process to overall unbearing checkout process where too many questions are asked when all you want to do is pay and go.

We will now delve into the 5 reasons chatbots are awesome at retaining these prospects and reducing overall cart abandonment.

They give direction

The main problem with a long checkout process is “how do I get to my cart” — sometimes the icon is just too small; it could also be located on the wrong side of the screen (main problem when switching from languages written right-to-left and ones written left-to-right).

A good chatbot just pops on screen and takes you through the checkout process.

They give you a more personal approach

Just like you get stuck at Hot Topic, trying to buy a shirt and unsure of the size and the seller comes to you asking questions like what you usually wear, a chatbot could do the same.

They can give you a discount

By offering people to use the chatbot instead of going through the whole process via the website, you can award them with better discounts thus promoting both the use of the chatbot as well as getting more customers to go through the checkout process.

They can upsell better than emails

Since many customers are “one-timers”, they are not likely to open your marketing emails as they usually:

a. go to spam
b. are sent to spam

If I wanted to buy a blender today, the odds of me buying a juicer next week are slim to none as I am not:

a. engaged with your brand anymore
b. unwilling to spend more cash right now

The longer you wait with the sale, the colder the lead gets.

A good chatbot upsells on the spot, offering discounted complementary goods such as if I buy a vacuum cleaner, it offers me a special nozzle for carpets or if I buy a mixer, it offers me a mincer at 50% off.

They could learn your customers needs

And that is the most important thing of all; if your bot learns your customer’s needs, you can sell X5 as much goods to the same client every week and not once a month.

For example, if a client went on your website and bought milk once or twice, you already know how frequently that client bought milk and the chatbot (based on AI and Machine Learning) could know when to offer the client to buy milk again, this time with a treat — Greek yogurt at 30% discount.

How? If your bot is connected to messengers (likes ours), you can just upsells through that messenger; send a notification as a message to your client that it’s time to buy milk again through the chatbot, without need to go to the website — just through the bot :-)
