The electric vehicles (EVs) sector, especially the battery-powered two-wheelers segment in India is picking up a lot of speed lately, with new premium models being introduced on one end, and affordable models for average consumers on the other. Leading the list of popular brands that aim at solving the missing link of pocket-friendly yet smart e-scooters is the Bengaluru-based smart mobility solution company Bounce. Bounce has recently introduced an electric two-wheeler (E2W) — the Bounce Infinity E1 with never been tried before, removable battery, and battery swapping technology innovations. The Indian market has often been a little tricky to navigate, with all its intricacies. Infinity E1: An innovative solution for the Indian user
The Infinity E1 comes with a battery pack of 2kWh with advanced lithium-ion batteries placed conveniently below the scooter’s boot space. These batteries can be easily removed from the scooter with a simple click of a button. The thought behind this innovation was to target the biggest challenge the EV industry is facing — the lack of charging infrastructure. This is also a major concern for EV adoption among the masses as people struggle to find the right space to charge their vehicles because of parking constraints.
The Infinity E1 completely eliminates these customer pain points as users have to no longer wait or struggle or wonder how to charge their E2Ws in case they are not living on the ground floor or in the vicinity of a charging station. With E1, charging has become much easier for users as they have the option to either charge the scooter directly or remove the battery and charge it anywhere. Now, consumers who have limited parking space or no access to a charging facility can easily charge their E2Ws. The E1 comes with a portable charger which is very similar to our regular laptop chargers. All users need to do is remove the battery from the boot space and carry it to a power source as per their choice and convenience. The batteries can be charged by simply plugging the portable charger into a regular socket be it at home or at the office. Each battery takes 4–5 hours to fully charge and has a range of 85 km.
Because of this unique removable battery solution, Bounce is offering a dual model of ownership to all Infinity E1 buyers. Customers can opt to purchase the e-scooter with the battery and charge the batteries as per their comfort. Alternatively, they can purchase the scooter without the battery and use the ‘battery as a service’ option which allows them to swap batteries at Bounce’s swapping station network. With battery swapping, customers no longer have the stress of charging batteries. They can simply locate the nearest battery-swapping station on the Bounce app. These stations function just like our conventional fuel stations. At the swapping station, customers can exchange their near-empty batteries for a charged one.
The two options are not only convenient to use but are also affordable for the Indian pocket. Consumers can purchase the E1 with removable battery for INR 68,999 and the without battery option for just INR 45,099.* Additionally, customers will have to pay INR 35 every time they swap batteries or they can even opt for a monthly subscription of INR 1,249.
