Last June 17, 2023, the Tara Photowalk Tayo community and BNCEBACK conducted the Tara Photowalk Tayo 2023 as part of the Pili Festival of Sorsogon City. The event brought together over 100 photographers from all over the region to explore the streets of Sorsogon City.

The participants captured breathtaking pictures of the scenic spots of the city — from the beautiful Capitol Park and compound, the busy Sorsogon plaza, and the magnificent Sorsogon Sports Complex. The Photowalk session also provided an opportunity for professional photographers, aspiring photographers, and anyone who just loves photography to network and learn from each other.

After careful deliberation, prizes, including cash and in kind, were awarded to the best photo essay winners. John Kennedy Redoble won 3rd place, Berwin Ian Alcantara won the second prize and Emil Yshmael Delmiguez Sabillena won the grand prize.

Earl Recamunda, the founder of the Tara Photowalk Tayo community, expressed their gratitude to their partners for the successful event.

Recamunda said, “We are grateful to BNCEBACK for being our collaborator and co-organizer of the event, as well as the Local Government of Sorsogon City for their support. We also would like to express our gratitude to all of our sponsors who made the event grander and fun.”

“Additionally, we thank all the participants for making the event a success. We welcome all of you to our humble and growing community that is passionate about capturing the beauty of our province, region, and country. We look forward to sharing our love for photography with you.”

“We hope that the Tara Photowalk Tayo sa Sorsogon 2023 will inspire more to try photography and to continue to contribute to the deeper conversation on the role of photography in creating and documenting our local culture and identity. We look forward to seeing you all at the next Tara Photowalk Tayo event!” Recamunda added.

Karl Vasquez, the founder of BNCBACK, also expressed his appreciation for Tara Photowalk Tayo’s impact on the local creative community as a partner of the event. According to Vasquez, the Tara Photowalk Tayo is already in its 13th year and has been one of the longest-running photography-focused community conventions in the region.

“Earl has shown dedication for more than a decade in boosting the appreciation for photography in the region. His love and passion for his craft have poured into helping others find love for photography and introducing it as something that anyone can participate in, no matter the type of photography gear a person has. We at BNCEBACK are proud to support his endeavors by being a partner in such events this year and in the following years,” Vasquez said.
