It’s Election Day
And I’m feeling grateful.
Just like that, it’s Election Day!
We voted early. Mike (my husband) and I like to review our ballots at home, look up candidates and issues we’re unsure of, fill out the ballots, and then walk them over to a drop box a few blocks away at our library.
It’s an exciting moment for me. Exciting is an understatement.
Today I will stay busy with work, text those in my inner circle, and cook.
Dinner will be delicious.
I thought I would be nervous today. I’m not.
I’m not stressed out.
I’m grateful.
I’m grateful to all of those people who already voted.
I’m grateful for those who got involved in one or more political campaigns.
I’m grateful for those who decided to run for political office, even if it was the most difficult thing they have ever done.
I’m grateful for those who continually spoke out against vileness.
Especially those whose speaking out was not easy, or comfortable. I imagine there have been thousands of conversations people had where their voices trembled but they kept going.
