My Mother Has Died — And I Have No Reason To Live

My mother was diagnosed with colon cancer in March. Stage 3. The doctors told her that, without chemo, they’d have given her about two years to live. So she did chemo. And died 9 months later.

After three rounds of chemo, she had a bad reaction to something in the chemicals… then got blood clots in her bladder, then an abscess in her stomach…

She spent the last two months of her life in the hospital and died on the 18th December 2024, at the age of 68. And without trying to steal her thunder, I’m pretty sure I died with her.

Grief

I found out her death was imminent two days before she died. She deteriorated so quick, that it still doesn’t feel real, even though my brain got used to the idea pretty fast. When I got the news, I was like: ‘….ok’. She got worse very rapidly, and I still don’t know how or why. The doctors failed to inform any of us in time about her condition, until me and her best friend went to talk to them and demanded an explanation. We were in total shock, as she looked like a completely different person from Monday to Tuesday to Wednesday. Before that, she was getting better; the blood clots were gone, the abscess was gone, and they informed us that the next step was for her to get better so that…
