You Can’t Separate Trump’s Personality from his Policy
The worst brand of Trump apologism
I’d rather you tell me you were a racist. Tell me you hate women, or trans people. Tell me you just want to see the world burn.
But to tell me that, while Trump’s personality doesn’t align with your values, you voted for him three times anyway? In the parlance of our times, GTFOH.
And that’s just what Matt DiGeronimo does in his article “Why I Voted For Trump.”
But this is a story about two articles. And so before I get to DiGeronimo, this:
For the past few days, I’ve been thinking about an article I read in The Atlantic so compelling I bought a subscription just to finish reading it (I’d used up all my freebies).
It is “One Word Describes Trump,” by Jonathan Rauch.
Without hyperbole, its one of the best articles I’ve ever read.
Not just because I agreed with it. I’m not fond of confirmation bias. But it actually introduced something to me I wasn’t familiar…
