The January 20, 2025 inauguration in the USA will mark the beginning of a significant sea change in running our country and setting its priorities. The government will take some perceived long-overdue actions designed to improve the safety and prosperity of our citizens.

I’m a retired military officer and have spent years serving overseas. I’d like to take a minute to prophesy about the near future (2025–2028), sharing what I believe the USA (and consequently, the world) is in store for:

  1. Mexico looks like Vietnam, the US military looks like the Stasi

Imagine needing to ensure we carry our driver’s license (or at least a national or state-issued ID card) when we leave our home, in case we get stopped. This could help prove we are permitted to be in the US.

The probability is that those who get stopped the most (by the police, Border Patrol, National Guard, US military — they are all out there) are those who look Hispanic, Asian, or Muslim/Middle Eastern. Everyone in the USA will need to be sure their papers are in order, especially those who live in states along the Mexican border.
