Quotable Articles #101
A New Year’s Wish (or Ten)
Maybe this is the year where we learn to get it right…
Yes, this is in fact #101 in the Quotable Articles series…just not all of them are published yet. In working to categorize and organize my writing, I’ve done some jumping around and this happens to be the 101st article that I’ve outlined based on this premise…the others are coming, I promise!
For so many people, 2024 has been a really, REALLY hard year. I know it has been for me — there were points throughout the year where I didn’t know if I would be able to go on.
Thankfully, I have family who cares deeply about me, and a girlfriend who loves me fiercely on the days when I can’t love myself.
So, I’m here at the end of another year.
I’m watching what people are posting and sharing across social media and the posts are much more about relief at making it through another calendar change and much less about celebrating this past year.
There’s a whole lot of pining going on for years past — but unlike the nostalgia that drives right-wing conservatives, this isn’t driven by a desire for greatness or a return of power.
No, what I’m seeing is a desperate cry for help, a plea for a return to a time…
