Here is Trump’s truth scorecard:

True — 3%
Mostly True — 8%
Half True — 12%
Mostly False — 19%
False — 38%
Pants on Fire — 18%

The scorecard is updated by Politifact. The last entry, as of this writing, was May 2, when Trump claimed, falsely, “I’m not allowed to testify because of a gag order.”

This was an easy lie to fact-check. Judges never prohibit testimony by defendants. I can’t imagine what Trump would say about burying stories about his having sex with a porn star and signing hush-money checks, but Judge Merchan certainly didn’t tell him he couldn’t get up on the stand and try to lie his way out of this one.

But enough about the hush-money trial. Let’s now segue to a different trial: the civil fraud case against Trump and associates for submitting years of inflated financial information to get better interest rates from banks. This trial is over. Trump has been found guilty and fined $450 million.

Just imagine what $450 million could have done if it had been spent on a good work or two instead of on Trump’s high-falutin lifestyle and his Trump Tower penthouse.
