American Healthcare
An Update on My Struggles
NOT another rant about the healthcare ripoff
Good News
Readers, I have somewhat good news. As you read in “American Healthcare is a Scam,” I’ve been struggling to afford my critical to living medications. We signed up with the Marketplace for a bronze level health insurance plan. That’s not new; we’ve always chosen bronze level because that tier offers the most affordable monthly premiums.
However, this year, the bronze tier almost tripled the deductible from previous years. Yes, it’s gone up about every year since 2017. But, the plan we were straddled with this year had an $8000 deductible. And, the person setting it up with my husband didn’t make that clear to him.
When we discovered it was so bad, Hamid called them again in February. But, the person just apologized and told him that we were outside the open enrollment period. He asked if there was anything we could do and the person said no. Basically, Hamid was told it was his responsibility to understand what had not been made clear to him — even though it was in Hamid’s FOURTH language.
Did you know? “Under U.S. law, if you are seeking services from a government agency or an organization funded by the U.S. government, you must be provided with assistance in your language.” [Law Help]
Bless his beautiful bald head! He called the Marketplace last night and insisted on speaking with a manager…
